Let the year begin!

9/1/2017

Welcome Third Grade Families,
We have had a wonderful week learning classroom routines, expectations, and most importantly, about each other!  We are so impressed with how quickly this group is getting back into the swing of things at school.  This week students have met their science, math, and specials teachers!  Here is what we have been doing in Humanities...

Reading:  We have been reading stories to help us discuss rules and emotions like, First Day Jitters, Today I Feel Silly, Officer Buckle and Gloria.  We will be moving into our reader's workshop model next week.

Writing:  We have been doing a lot of 'Get to know you' writing activities that will be on display at Open House!  We will move into our writer's workshop model towards the end of next week.

Homework:  Mr. Kinnarney has moved our school out of the traditional homework model and into a 'Challenge by Choice' system.  Paperwork on Challenge by Choice went home with third graders today!  Please email us if you have any questions!

Tunbridge Fair:  Permission slips went home with students on Thursday.  Please return as soon as possible.  We will need chaperones!  If you are interested, and an approved chaperone, please let us know!  Some of you noted that you could chaperone on the permission slip and we have put you on our lists!

Upcoming Events:

9/4     No School (Labor Day)
9/7     Open House 5:30 pm
9/14   Tunbridge Fair

We hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
