10/29/21 Fourth Grade

Dear Families,

The school was full of excitement and energy today as we participated in our Fall Festival! Masks certainly couldn't hide the smiles.  It was fun to see the students that chose to dress up.  Here's an update:

We finished up Ruby Holler today!  We are so proud of the rich conversations we had as a class about this book.  We had such a variety of students participating and sharing ideas.  We also started more book clubs this week.

In writing, we are analyzing quotation marks.  Students looked for quotes in their independent reading books, we've learned how to attribute who is speaking to the quote, and next week we will begin practicing writing dialogue.

10/8/2021 Fourth Grade

 10/8/2021

Dear Families,

We are still smiling thinking about last week's all school hike trip we took to Dog Mountain.  We are so proud of our fourth graders.  We had community members who were visiting Dog Mtn. while we were there complimenting us, both in person and on social media, on how polite our students were.  They truly exemplified the 'Blue Devil Way' and we could not be more proud of them!  A special thank you to all of our chaperones for making this trip possible.  Here is an update:

Humanities:  In writing, we are working on revising and editing to make our work better.  Students have written about a character trait that they exemplify in their lives and then told us about it.  We have edited for capital letters and complete sentences and revised our introductions and conclusions.

In reading we have started a new read aloud, Ruby Holler.  We have been trying to think  deeply about characters by analyzing character traits and why characters make the decisions they make.
