9/29/23 Third Grade

Dear Families,

What a wonderful week we have had in third grade!  Here is what we have been up to:

Literacy:

Students have selected independent reading books that are 'just right'.  We spent a lot of time this week talking about how we check to see if a book is just right.  We have also started gathering ideas for our writer's notebooks.

10/6  Field Trip to The Shelburne Museum

9/22/23 Third Grade

 

9/22/23

Dear Families,

We've had another great week in third grade!  Here is what we have been up to:

Literacy:

We have launched our writer's workshop! Students personalized their writer's notebook covers and worked to fill in their 'heart maps'.  Heart maps are a tool students will use to come up with topics to write about.  Students learned that the best stories come from our own hearts and brainstormed things that are near and dear to them.  

In reading, we have begun learning about our classroom library and routines for independent menu time.

9/15/23 Third Grade

 9/15/23

Dear Families,

We have had a wonderful week in third grade!  We had so much fun at the Tunbridge Fair yesterday! Thank you to all of our marvelous chaperones that made this day possible.  Here is what we have been up to:

Literacy:

We have started getting to know our classroom library as well as launching Writer's Workshop!  Students are encouraged to bring in pictures to personalize their Writer's Notebooks.  You can email them to us at sthompson2@cvsu.org

We spent the half day learning about fire safety.  Packets were sent home to share with families.  We also spent time thinking about 'size of the problem'.  Students learned that small problems should have smaller reactions.

Welcome to Third Grade! 9/8/23

 

Dear Families,

Welcome to third grade!  This is our (mostly) weekly newsletter!  We encourage you to hit the subscribe button so you will be notified when we post.  It was a HOT but fabulous week in third grade!  Here is what we have been up to:

Literacy:  We are spending a lot of time building our classroom community.  We are getting into the swing of reading and writing through a lot of  'get to know you' activities.

Tunbridge Fair:  On Thursday we will be going to the Tunbridge Fair!  Thanks to all who have brought back forms and volunteered to chaperone.  We will be in touch!
