Dear Families,

We had a wonderful week in third grade!  We continue to be amazed by the deep level of conversation and thinking these learners demonstrate.  Here is what we have been up to:

Humanities:

We finished Because of Winn Dixie!  We had a great conversation that led to the writing piece, "What are the most important things that happened Because of Winn Dixie?"  As a special treat, we watched the movie.

Next Week:

Mrs. Thompson will be away for part of next week and the week after.  Her daughter was one of 25 snowboarders from across the country chosen to compete in the USASA National Championships in Colorado!  Ms. Franklin and Ms. Jazlyn will be with the third grade while she is away.

Dear Families,

What a week!  We appreciate your patience and flexibility as the district navigated this storm!  We were so happy to be back in our routine this morning.  Here is what we did this (unexpectedly short) week.

Humanities:  We continued with Because of Winn Dixie.  We are gathering information on the characters and working on making predictions.  In writing, we completed and shared our paragraphs on our break.  Students had to tell us three things about their break: 2 truths and 1 lie.  As a class, we tried to guess which one was the lie!  They did an amazing job!

Dear Families,

We were so excited to welcome students back this week!  They were able to get right back into our routine and we had a productive week.  We'd like to thank the community for supporting our school budget!  We are truly honored to work in such an amazing place.  Here is what we have been doing:

Humanities:  We started the read-aloud, Because of Winn Dixie.  We will use this book to think deeply about characters.  In writing, we wrote paragraphs about our vacations with a twist!  Students were asked to tell two truths and one lie about their break.  We are completing our final drafts today and then we will try to guess what students really did over break!
