Even though it was a short week, we have accomplished a lot!  Here's what we have been up to:

Reading:  We are all enjoying reading and discussing, The Miraculous Adventures of Edward Tulane. We are amazed with the level of conversation that is occuring as we discuss the characters feelings/emotions and how they change over the course of the story.  Ask your child about Edward, the main character, and how he has changed throughout his journey.

Writing: We are working on our descriptive writing pieces.  We are identifying strategies authors use to make their writing more descriptive.  Soon, we will be putting all of these strategies together to rewrite our pieces.

We had our third grade meeting a day early because Mrs. T. and Ms. F will be out of the classroom doing reading testing tomorrow!  We have had a great first week back from vacation.  It has been a pleasure getting to hear all of the fun students had over break.  We are also very excited to welcome a former classmate, Sam, back into our WES family!

This short week has been used to finish up odds and ends that were not completed before vacation!  We will be moving into a descriptive writing unit next week as well as a new unit in reading!  Look for more updates next week!
