4/25/19 Third Grade

4/25/19

Dear Families,
We have had a very productive week back from vacation.  The weather cooperated and we were able to get outside to read and write.  Here is an update:

Reading:  We have started, A Dog's Life.   Stduents are continuing to focus on how characters change and grow throughout the course of a text.  We are continuing to conference with students about their independent reading as well.

Writing:  We are finishing up our poetry unit and preparing for our upcoming Poetry Breakfast!  Students are excited to create our class poetry anthology.

High/Low
High- we got our dictionaries
High- it’s getting hotter
High- we got our dictionaries from the Elk’s Club
Low- it’s cold out this morning
High- it’s getting way warmer outside,
Low- it’s cold this morning
High- we got our dictionaries
Low- it’s getting colder outside
High- I’m getting to see all my friends again
Low- the bridge I made is killing some fish
High- playing baseball at the lower field
High- we get to go to the lower field and build a bridge
High- baseball at the lower field
Low- I couldn’t sign up for baseball
High- it’s warmer and we can go to the lower field
Low- people are building a bridge
High- the Elk’s Club came yesterday, Family Fun Night is tomorrow
Low- it’s cold this morning
HIgh- we can go down to the lower field
Low- it’s cold and muddy down there
High- we got ourselves back in the groove after being gone a week, shape poems
Low- all the mud that was in our rooms yesterday
High- starting A Dog’s Life

Low- messy room!

4/11/19 Third Grade

Dear Families,
Wow, how can it be April break already?  Students have worked so hard on their SBAC tests and have been focused learners in class.  Here is an update:

Writing: We have been 100% focused on our Mother's Day Poetry Breakfast!  Invitations went home yesterday. Mark your calendars for May 9th at 8am!

Reading:  We continued reading and analyzing poetry.

High- The snow is going away
Low- it’s still cold
High- it’s picture day
Low- it’s still cold

High- tomorrow is the acknowledgement, SBAC was pretty easy for me
Low- I wasn’t prepared for picture day
HIgh- the acknowledgment is tomorrow, it’s getting warmer
Low- D is not here, I forgot it was picture day

4/4/19 Third Grade

Dear Families,
We have had a long week of SBAC testing!  Students have been demonstrating the Blue Devil Way by persevering through this long and difficult task.  We are proud of their efforts.  Because of testing, we have not had ELA time this week.

High- we learned upper case letters
HIgh-we get to go down to the lower field
High- I get to go to the library tomorrow, Ms. Moore is back
High- we finished uppercase letters, we get to start writing our names
