Dear Families,
We hope you were all safe during last night's ice storm! Hopefully, our playground will thaw out and be safe for students to use soon. Here is what we have been doing:
Writing: We started a new unit on opinion writing. Students are learning how to write an opinion piece that will persuade others to have the same opinion. To kick of this unit, we watched commercials and analyzed the persuasive techniques the advertisers used.
Reading: Students continued to learn how to analyze characters deeply as modeled in the book, Because of Winn Dixie.

Low- it’s really cold and rainy out
High- we had a two hour delay, we watched the funny baby commercial
Low- no outdoor recess
High- talking about Valentine’s Day
Low- it’s been really cold out, my snow pants are missing
