Brrrr it's cold! Hopefully it will warm up soon. We have had a lot of late starts and snow days but our students have done a fabulous job making the most of our time together. Here is what we have been doing:
Writing: Students have been typing the final draft of their non-fiction reports on a subject they are an expert on. The purpose of this writing piece was to help them practice writing in 'report' form using and introduction, headings, and a conclusion. Soon, in science, they will learn how they can add research to support their pieces and make them stronger.
Reading: We are learning how the author gives us clues about characters so that we can get to know them better. We are practicing thinking deeply about characters and using evidence to support our thoughts. We are modeling this using the book, Because of Winn Dixie.

High- watching you type your reports and insert tables!, my class has been much better about bringing in home folders
Low- you can’t go outside

Low- It’s too cold to play outside
