It was nice to see so many families at Open House last night!  We love sharing what our fabulous students have been up to.  Here is an update:

Literacy:  Students have chosen 'Just Right Books' to read independently.  We are reading The Twits and learning about character traits.  We are gathering ideas for writing and adding them to our Idea Banks.

Dear Families,

This was our first FULL (normal) week and it was wonderful!  Here is what we have been doing:

Literacy:

This week we launched our writer's workshop!  Students are learning how to use their writer's notebooks as a tool to capture ideas and to become better writers.  We are encouraging kids to bring in pictures that represent them to put on their covers.  These pics can be emailed to us at any time.  In reading, we are continuing to learn about Just Right books and our library.

Dear Families,

We are off to an amazing start in third grade!  Each week we publish a blog with updates, upcoming events, our students highs and lows from the week, and a picture.  We encourage you to subscribe so that you don't miss any updates.  Here is what we have been up to:

Literacy:

Third graders have had the opportunity to visit all of their classes and are adjusting well to their new schedule.  We have been spending time getting to know each other and building our classroom community.  Next week, students will begin their beginning of the year assessments.
