Dear Families,

How are we already at our last Friday of the year??  We have had a lot of fun this week, here is an update!

We finished reading our mystery book.  Students worked on mystery vocabulary.  We will also be doing a fingerprinting activity.

6/6/25 Third Grade

 Dear Families,

What a week!  It was so nice to see so many families at the end of the year BBQ!  The end of the year brings lots of excitement and some anxiousness.  We have been talking a lot about how change is a good thing even if it seems scary.  We wanted to let you know that Mrs. Thompson has accepted a teaching position in her hometown for next year.  She has made the commute for 20 years so while we are sad to see her go, we are excited for her and her family. 

Literacy

We finished The City of Ember.  This was a very popular book for our third graders!  Luckily, it is a series!  We encouraged students to visit the town library to read the next book this summer.  We will be wrapping up the school year with a lot of reflection and looking ahead to next year.

We started reading, The City of Ember.  This science fiction book has been a hit with our class!  They are making really great predictions using evidence from the text.  Also, we have been reviewing word endings in word study like -tch, -ch.

Dear Families,

We have had a great week!  Students did an amazing job at the concert.  Their artwork looks amazing in our hallways!  Here is what we have been up to:

Literacy:  We finished up reading Because of Winn Dixie!  This was a class favorite and we celebrated with a Winn Dixie party in the afternoon.  We also started our poetry unit.  Students will be spending time reading and writing poetry.  This unit culminates with our annual Mother's Day Poetry Breakfast!  This year's breakfast will occur on Thursday, May 8th at 8:00 am.  Invitations were sent home today.

Literacy:  We finished The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.  Students did an amazing job having really deep conversations about the development of the characters.  We have moved on to another Kate DiCamillo book in order to do a mini author study!  We are currently reading, Because of Winn Dixie.
